Kanye on Running for President and No Longer Supporting Trump

This is not a drill.

Kanye West dropped bomb after bomb in the course of a four-hour interview with Forbes on Wednesday, and the most salient points could be summarized as such:

  • Yes, he’s serious about running for President.
  • Yes, he’s aware he’d be running against reelectionist Donald Trump, whom he used to support.
  • Yes, he’s a coronavirus survivor.

Not a Publicity Stunt

After his surprise announcement that he wants to be America’s next president, some people reckoned it was nothing but a publicity stunt for Yeezy’s upcoming album.

The rapper vehemently denied this, saying he will give his album away for free anyway.

Shortly after admitting that he has never once voted in his entire life, West said he definitely plans to register his name on the 2020 presidential ballot, under the banner of the ‘Birthday Party.’

“Because when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday,” quotes Sky News.

Falling Out with Mr. President

If anyone suggested in 2018 that Kanye would one day challenge Trump for the presidency, it would have been considered ‘Joke of the Year’ on Twitter.

As a sobering reminder that nothing in this world is permanent, CNN reports reiterated that the political novice doesn’t mind going up against someone he used to look up to.

Kanye repeatedly told reporters that he has lost confidence in the nation’s commander in chief, especially after the latter was reportedly moved to an underground bunker to ride out White House protests over police brutality and racial injustice.

"It looks like one big mess to me," he said. "I don't like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker."

Surviving COVID-19

One other thing West revealed is his brief encounter with the coronavirus in February, although he did not confirm if he ever tested positive of the disease or if he simply self-diagnosed.

Either way, his experience seemed like a total nightmare.

“Chills, shaking in the bed, taking hot showers, looking at videos telling me what I'm supposed to do to get over it. I remember someone had told me Drake had the coronavirus and my response was Drake can’t be sicker than me!” he narrated.

Kanye has since recovered from the illness, and is well enough to chase after bigger dreams.

This is a developing story, though, as West has yet to file the necessary paperwork to put his grand plan to action.
